NAVI-MIG - Supporting migrants navigate essential services and labor market integration
Learning objectives:
The learning objectives of this project were:
to enable migrants to navigate their new country of residence independently, with increased self-confidence and self-reliance, through the NAVI-MIG application.
to offer a clear roadmap for migrants who have recently arrived (within the last 2-3 years) to help them orient themselves and settle quickly in their new country using the NAVI-MIG application.
to provide a comprehensive overview and facilitate quick and easy access to essential public services such as welfare, healthcare, integration programs, language courses, educational and vocational training, and more, through the NAVI-MIG application.
to reduce barriers to accessing existing services by offering training on the NAVI-MIG application and providing an initial support network through a one-on-one mentoring program tailored to the individual needs of the target group.
The NAVI-MIG project was created to contribute to the inclusion and integration of recently arrived migrants, as evidence suggests that migrants are at a greater risk of social exclusion than the native population.
Successful integration of migrants begins with enabling them to access essential services and helping them get settled and oriented in their new residence. Therefore, mobile applications are a useful tool to provide an initial roadmap and orientation, helping to improve access to essential services such as city halls, housing initiatives, job centers, health services, and child support, among others.
The McKinsey Global Institute estimates that successfully integrating the refugees who have arrived in Europe into the labor market could add roughly €70 billion to €80 billion to the annual GDP.
